Air Fryer S'mores are the answer when you have that craving but don't have a campfire! Do you ever get a s'mores craving but it's too cold or you don't have the time, space or energy to make a campfire?
This is when you're air fryer comes in handy again. This summer time treat can now be an all year treat.
Warm gooey marshmallow on top of melted chocolate sandwiched between two graham crackers. YUM!!
Making s'mores in the air fryer is quick and easy. This childhood treat has a short prep time and is ready in less than 5 minutes.
Air Fryer S'mores are such a great recipe to make with the kids too! My girls always want to help in the kitchen and this recipe is perfect for that.
They help me get out the marshmallows, break the chocolate apart and SQUISH the s'more together after its cooled slightly.
I don't let them help with the actual air fryer yet because they're pretty young. They love it though. And eat half of my chocolate and marshmallows during the process, haha!

What type of chocolate should I use for Air Fryer S'mores?
Air Fryer S'mores are super versatile just like campfire s'mores. You can use any type of chocolate you like!
Here are a few of my favorite types of chocolate to use on s'mores:
- Hershey's - This is the classic s'more that everyone knows and loves. Hershey's bars make delicious s'mores
- Reese's - If you love a chocolate peanut butter combo then this may be the option for you. Using Reese's Peanut Butter Cups on s'mores has become very popular in recent years
- Ghirardelli - Ghirardelli makes chocolate squares that fit perfectly onto a graham cracker square. They have TONS of flavor options too. I have recipes for their caramel and raspberry squares, Raspberry S’mores, Brown Butter Graham Cracker Blondie S’more
What size marshmallow should I use?
A jumbo marshmallow is best for Air Fryer S'mores. That way it covers most of the graham cracker.
The mini marshmallows don't really stay put very well.
You can use the large circular shape or the large square shape, specifically for s'mores. I like to use the square shape but that is just personal preference.
Can I use foil in my air fryer?
You certainly can but it is not necessary. Using foil in an air fryer helps make for an easy clean-up! I don't know about you but I love an easy clean up.
A few things you want to make sure to do if using foil:
- Use it in the air fryer basket ONLY. Do not use it under the basket
- Only use a small amount of aluminum foil. Just enough to cover the bottom of the air fryer basket. It does not need to go up the sides of the basket
- Do not line the basket with foil when preheating the air fryer. Only put it in when you are immediately putting food on top of it afterwards
When to make Air Fryer S'mores
Air Fryer S'mores are a quick and easy dessert that you can make anytime. Here are some of my favorite times to make them:
- After dinner dessert during the cold months
- Birthday parties
- After school snacks
- Sleepovers
Ingredients
- Graham Crackers - I use the traditional flavor graham crackers
- Marshmallows - I prefer to use jumbo marshmallows, square or circular
- Hershey's Bars - This is the traditional chocolate bar used for s'mores but you can have fun with it and switch it up to whatever your favorite candy bar is!
- Flaky Sea Salt - This is optional but delicious. I love a little salt with my sweets!
Equipment needed
- Air Fryer - Any size air fryer will do the trick
- Tongs - You can use tongs to remove the marshmallow from the air fryer if you're worried about burning yourself
- Metal Spatula - A metal spatula is good for removing the hot graham cracker from the air fryer
Tips for Air Fryer S'mores
- Don't crowd the air fryer. Only place marshmallows and graham crackers in a single layer in the bottom of the basket. Do not stack
- Using tongs and/or a spatula will help prevent you burning yourself when removing items from the air fryer
- Try out different chocolates! Reese's peanut butter cups and Ghirardelli squares are also really delicious!
- Only leave the chocolate in the air fryer for 10 seconds. If you leave the Hershey's or Ghirardelli squares in longer then they can become very liquid-y. This makes burning yourself extremely easy. It also makes for a big mess
- I only put the bottom graham cracker in the air fryer to hold the chocolate. The graham crackers can burn easily too so you don't want them in there much longer than the 10 seconds with the chocolate
- If you like your marshmallow less toasted then don't leave it in as long. If you like a black marshmallow ( like I do) then leave it in slightly longer. The air fryer won't have the same effect that a campfire does though, so be cautious of how long your marshmallow is in the air fryer
- Different brands and sizes of air fryers can have different cook times. My current air fryer cooks quickly. Make sure you pay attention the first time and adjust timing if needed
- You can use cinnamon graham crackers, chocolate graham crackers or even cookies in place of the regular graham cracker halves.
Can I store Air Fryer S'mores
Not really. Air Fryer S'mores are a dessert that you need to eat immediately.
Unfortunately they don't hold well so don't try keeping them in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic wrap.
This is pretty easy to manage though. S'mores are a single serve dessert.
Which means you can make as many individual servings as you'd like. This really cuts down on waste.
How to make Air Fryer S'mores
Making Air Fryer S'mores might be one of the easiest treats you've ever made. The first step is to preheat the air fryer to 350°F for a couple minutes.
Then break the graham crackers and chocolate (if needed) into squares.
Place the chocolate on top of 1 piece of graham cracker. Air fry each graham cracker and chocolate for 10 seconds.
Remove it from the air fryer basket and place it on a plate or tray then sprinkle it with flaky sea salt.
Add the marshmallows to the air fryer basket and cook 1.5 - 2 minutes.
Remove the marshmallows using tongs then place them on top of the chocolate. Add the other half of the graham cracker square over the top of the marshmallow and lightly press down.
Now you have delicious Air Fryer S'mores to eat!
